Therapy for Adults Navigating Trauma, Addiction & Life’s Biggest Changes.
Collaborative, direct support to help you find stability, build real tools, and move forward with confidence.
Let’s Start Here
Something feels stuck. Maybe you’ve been carrying the weight of past experiences longer than you’d like to admit — or you’re standing at a crossroads and not sure which direction to take. You might be working to stay sober, figuring out who you are, or just trying to feel more like yourself again. You don’t have to have it all figured out to start. Whether you’re in the thick of a major transition or quietly exhausted from keeping it all together, you deserve support that meets you where you are — and helps you find a way through.
What would you say to someone who’s nervous or unsure about starting therapy?
Hi, I’m Sarah, a therapist at Tides Mental Health. If you’re thinking about starting therapy, first — I want to say that reaching out is genuinely brave. A lot of my clients come in feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or ready for change but unsure where to begin. We’ll go at your pace, and you won’t have to figure it all out before our first conversation. I’d love to connect — feel free to schedule a free consultation.

What It’s Like to Work Together
Sessions with Sarah are collaborative and direct. Together, we’ll create a space where you can be honest about what’s hard — and trust that you’ll feel more grounded by the time we’re done. There’s no pretense here, and no pressure to have all the answers before we start. We’ll work together to understand how your past experiences and current patterns are shaping the way you feel and move through the world. Depending on what you’re working through, we might use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help you notice the connection between your thoughts and emotions, or DBT skills to help you manage intense feelings with more steadiness. When it fits, we might use Motivational Interviewing — an open, non-judgmental way of exploring what’s getting in the way of the changes you want to make. Your care here is never one-size-fits-all. Some sessions might involve a structured exercise or homework you’ll take with you; others might call for something different entirely. What matters most is that the work we do together reflects your story and what you actually need right now.
What can clients expect it to feel like in a session with you?
Sessions with me are honest and collaborative — I’ll be real with you, and I want you to feel safe being real with me. We’ll move at a pace that makes sense for you, and if something we’re trying isn’t landing, we’ll adjust. My goal is that you leave each session feeling more grounded than when you walked in — even when the topic is heavy. There’s no performance required. Just show up as you are.
What’s one reason you’re passionate about the work you do?
I became a therapist because I believe healing looks different for every person. Your environment, your history, your identity — all of it shapes who you are and what you need. I love being part of the moment when a client sees a new path forward — whether that’s in early recovery, gender-affirming care, or just navigating a season of life that feels really hard. That’s what keeps me in this work
